From The Far American
"Latinos have no choice but to take this personally." This the declaration from Jorge Ramos of Univision in his article entitled "Republicans, this is personal".
He goes on to offer a clarification:
"As a journalist and immigrant I have criticized Republicans and Democrats alike. I condemned President Obama’s failure to deliver on his electoral promise to present an immigration reform bill during his first year in office, and I confronted him again last year after his administration had deported more than two million undocumented immigrants – he could have stopped those deportations many years ago. Thousands of families were separated because of his policies. This is not a party issue; it’s an urgent matter of human rights."
This supposed clarification is to let us know that he has been an activist regarding illegal immigration against both parties.
The problem is, Jorge Ramos does not consider himself an activist, he considers himself a journalist. "I think I am just a journalist asking questions. And I believe completely in objectivity" he says.
However in a Time article August 23, 2016 he also says that "neutrality is not an option" when it comes to covering Donald Trump. In another newspaper interview last December he spoke about deciding not to run for office because "he has decided that he can have more impact as a journalist."
